ATTENTION! At the end of December, we launched a new incredible multimedia project «LIVE SCORES» on our website.
As part of the project, scores of chamber and symphonic music will be published. Initially, it is planned to place the scores of all Dmitry Shostakovich quartets performed by the British string quartet Fitzwilliam Quartet, as well as selected opuses of an anthology of chamber music for string quartet over the past three centuries. In video mode, the score of each composition is broadcast in real time.

The second volume for the collection of scientific articles «COMPARATIVE ART STUDY – XXI CENTURY. ISSUE II» was published at the publishing house of the Russian Institute for the History of Arts of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The readers are presented with the second issue of this research series devoted to the issues of comparative art history. In the publication, on page 243, an article by Maxim Karpets «Performance as the embodiment for the nature of interactive forms in musical composition» was published.

On October 1, 2021, our team is launching a large-scale advertising campaign for a new musical project, which will include the creation and launch of a website for the competition project, and conducting master classes for jury members.

The founders of the Competition are the St. Petersburg Chapel "Tauride", the All-Russian Museum of A.S. Pushkin, St. Petersburg Pushkin Foundation, Tree of Life Foundation.

The idea of holding the international chamber music composer competition "In Pushkin's Orbit" is a cultural project aimed at: stimulating creative activity among young musicians in the development of chamber music, developing and popularizing the creative heritage of the Russian poet, associated in many countries with Russia, Russian culture , creating musical compositions based on the texts of works by A.S. Pushkin, identifying talents, promoting the emergence of new popular vocal music.

General info

Competition dates: October 1, 2021 - October 1, 2022

Nominations of the Competition: the competition is held in five categories:

1 contemporary academic techniques
2 traditional urban romance
3 song-romance of folklore tradition
4 jazz improvisation techniques
5 styles of popular music

The criteria for the selection of works will be the brightness of the musical material, the skill and professionalism of performance. Compositions can refer to any style of modern, academic, jazz, ethnic, electronic and popular music, i.e. music that involves the widest stylistic palette of musical means of expression and is designed to be perceived by a mass audience.

There are two types of tasks for contestants:
1. text provided by the competition jury
2. text of the author's choice

The proposed topics for creating works are poems or fragments from literary works, poems, fairy tales by A.S. Pushkin.

Procedure for the Competition

Composers of any age can take part in the Competition (from 14 years old)
The competition is held anonymously, each clavier attached to the application for participation in the Competition is assigned an individual identification number.
The competition is held remotely and consists of a qualifying audition and the main round.

The competition is held on the following dates:
• Announcement of the start of the competition - October 1, 2021:
• Collection of applications until February 1, 2022 (inclusive);
• I round — from February 10, 2022 to May 1, 2022;
• II round - from May 2 to May 10, 2022;
• Final GALA CONCERT and announcement of the winners of the competition on June 6, 2022.

Scores attached to the application for participation are allowed to participate in the qualifying round, subject to all the conditions of the Competition.
No more than 500 scores selected by members of the selection jury of the Competition are allowed to participate in the First Round.
No more than 50 scores selected by members of the main jury of the Competition are allowed to participate in the Second Round.
The jury determines the participants of the I and II rounds according to the claviers and recordings sent by the participants of the competition. Based on the video recordings and scores, the jury determines the winners of the Competition.

Each contestant has the right to submit no more than two works of his own composition in free form lasting no more than 4 minutes (each).

Informing participants about the results of each round is carried out as follows:
- Participants are notified about the results of the qualifying round at the e-mail address registered when submitting an application for participation in the Contest;
- the results of the 1st round are announced publicly the next day after its completion, the list of names of participants admitted to participate in the second round is published on the official website of the Competition and on the official websites of the Tauride Chapel and the Tree of Life Foundation;
- the results of the II round and the winners of the Contest are announced at the gala concert of the Contest.

Application procedure

Submission of applications begins on October 1, 2021 (00:00 Moscow time) and ends on February 1, 2022 (23:59 Moscow time).
To participate in the Contest, you must register and fill out an electronic application on the Internet platform of the Contest by filling in the following fields (in Russian or English):

Full name, date of birth;
valid e-mail address of the participant (confirmation of registration on the site and other information related to the Contest will be sent to this e-mail address);
citizenship and country of residence
short creative biography;
score of the work submitted to the Competition, with no indication of the author's name or other personal information, in *.pdf format; Piano scores with any identification marks, names or other personal information are not allowed to participate in the Competition;
at the request of the author, an audio file in *.mp3 format with a recording of the composition submitted to the Competition can be attached to the application.

The authors of essays that have passed to the II round are obliged to provide additional information within three days:
the front page of a passport or other identity document (with a photograph and signature of the owner);
one portrait photograph on a neutral background with a resolution of at least 300 dpi.

Citizens of Russia are also required to submit additionally (only the winners of the competition):
page of the Russian passport with a stamp on registration at the place of residence or stay, valid for the entire period of the Competition;
TIN (document on the assignment of a taxpayer identification number by the Federal Tax Service of Russia);
SNILS (document on the assignment of the insurance number of an individual personal account by the Pension Fund of Russia).
Incomplete applications or applications without the accompanying materials listed above will not be considered.
The fact of filing an application means the unconditional consent of the applicant with all the conditions of this Regulation.

Competition Jury

The jury is formed from among well-known Russian and foreign composers, musicians, producers and musical figures. The list of jury members will be published on the Competition website no later than February 1, 2022.
The jury consists of:
- jury of the qualifying round;
- Jury of the first and second rounds of the Competition.
The jury evaluates the entries and determines the winners by secret ballot.
All decisions of the Competition Jury are final and not subject to revision.

Prizes and awards

The total prize fund of the Competition is 900,000 rubles

1st prize - 300,000 rubles
2nd prize - 200,000 rubles
3rd prize - 100,000 rubles

All participants of the Contest will receive electronic certificates of participation in the Contest.
The compositions of the participants who made it to the second round of the Competition will be recorded and published on an audio CD, as well as published on the Competition website in the “Library of New Music “In Pushkin's Orbit” section.
In addition, the compositions of the winners of the Competition will be performed at the central concert venues in 25 cities of Russia.
In agreement with the Organizing Committee, public organizations, foundations and / or the media may establish any additional awards, prizes and / or gifts for the contestants. The decision to award special prizes, prizes and/or gifts to the contestants is made by the jury of the Competition.
On the website of the competition, during all rounds, online voting of the audience will be held. According to the results, the Audience Choice Award will be announced.

Financial info

There is no entry fee for participation in the Contest.
All cash prizes and awards are paid to the laureates of the Competition in Russian rubles, net of taxes established by the legislation of Russia.

Special info

Contestants do not receive a fee for participating in the Competition.
The gala concert of the Competition may be broadcast live and recorded for subsequent broadcasts and publications on audio and video media. The gala concert of the Competition may be partially or fully available for viewing via the Internet
All rights to broadcast, audio and video recordings of the gala concert of the Competition without additional fee of its participants belong to the Competition.
Composers whose compositions will be selected for Round II transfer to the Competition the exclusive right to publish their compositions in the general printed collection of the finalists of the competition, as well as to perform the winning works in concerts in more than 20 cities of the Russian Federation, as well as on Internet channels and TV.
The Organizing Committee of the Competition does not provide the participants of the Competition with visa support, travel, accommodation and insurance for participation in the gala concert of the Competition.
The Organizing Committee of the Competition assists in visa support for the laureates for their arrival and participation in the Gala Concert and the award ceremony.
An application for participation in the Contest indicates that the participant of the Contest fully accepts and undertakes to comply with these Terms.
These Regulations are published on the official website of the Competition, the Tauride Chapel and the Tree of Life Foundation, in Russian and English. In the event of any disputes in the interpretation of any terms of these Regulations, its version published in Russian shall prevail.

On September 6, 2021, at 19.00 in the legendary Tchaikovski Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the final Gala concert of the laureates and the solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the Organ Music Composers Competition will take place. A TV broadcast of the concert is planned, as well as a live online broadcast in 360 ° VR VIDEO format!
Within the framework of the gala concert, the world and Russian premiere of the concert passacaglia of Maxim Karpets for the organ “MEMORIA PRAETERITA SED FUTURA INTUEBITUR” will take place.
The official prize fund of the Competition for Young Organ Music Composers "New Classics -" Organ Taurida "is 600,000 rubles.
1st place - 300,000 rubles
II place - 200,000 rubles

The Honorary Jury of the Competition, consisting of well-known organists, composers, and masters of the arts, will present awards and special prizes to young winners, including for a program piece dedicated to the history of Russia, a special prize for displaying images of prominent Russian personalities in the 18th century in organ music, prizes from Fund of the composer M.L. Premiere of the movie «ERA» with music by Maxim Karpets

The movie «ERA» was created within the framework of the All-Russian project "Film lessons in Russian schools", which was included in the number of initiatives of the "New School" project of the "United Russia" political party. The premiere of the film took place in two stages on April 12 in St. Petersburg as part of the events dedicated to the Day of Cosmonautics and the 60th anniversary of the first manned flight into space. The presentation of the film took place in the Presidential Library as part of the traditional conference in honor of the Day of Cosmonautics.
